Documentation › FiveM Asset Escrow
How protected resources work and how to fix the typical escrow errors.
Paid Smile Scripts resources are protected by the FiveM Asset Escrow system. Your purchase is tied to your Cfx.re account and the protected files only run on servers that belong to that account.
Escrow only locks the core code. Everything you need to adapt a script stays readable:
| Folder / file | Editable |
|---|---|
config/ |
Yes - every setting |
locales/ |
Yes - translations |
bridge/ |
Yes - framework, inventory, target and permission adapters |
install/ |
Yes - SQL, item lists and icons |
| Core logic | No (protected) |
The exact list is on each script's page.

You lack the required entitlement to use ... |
The server license key belongs to a different Cfx.re account than the one that bought the script. Use a license key from the purchasing account, or transfer the asset on the Cfx Portal. |
Syntax error near <\1> |
The protected files were damaged during upload (FTP text mode) or the server artifacts are too old. Re-upload the resource in binary mode and update your artifacts. |
Failed to verify protected resource |
Update your server artifacts and make sure the protected files were not changed. |
Do not edit, rename or re-save the protected files. Changing them breaks the resource - only the open files above may be changed.
